Quite obviously, G Photos is lacking some of even the simplest editing tools (even compared to G+ Photos), and I was hoping Google would add them soon. it's for people who want a backup of their photos and want to share them, but don't waste any time with manually sorting and editing them. G Photos is a very modern and clean interface for collecting those tons of photos that everybody has these days due to the ubiquitous smartphones and their cameras. It only created confusion, while essentially being very similar. Google+ Photos didn't really make any sense after Google Photos was released. That seems like a hard problem.Īll that said, you can have multiple google accounts, including ones tied to non-gmail email accounts, and it actually works really well. Also good would be making image search better so that you didn't have to use safe search just to filter out "porn noise" that always shows up when you search for literally anything. I think this would be better fixed by having one level of safe search that only applied to porn on web and image search, and did little to nothing for youtube, G+, or other areas that are already restricted. youtube explicit porn is already not allowed, safe means no R rated content. The real problem here seems to be that "safe" means two different things. I don't think that many people really want safe search for one search and not for the other. Maybe youtube could handle it since it is otherwise largely independent, but who wants to have to log in separately for gmail, drive, hangouts, photos, and search? I also think your example is a bit off. I don't think that is going anywhere, and I think the majority of people would be upset if it did. Google thinks if I have it on for Images, I have to have it on for Youtube. But not Youtube (I can deal with profanity through headphones). I like to search Google Images with Safe Search on, for obvious reasons. The whole 'One login to rule them all' with Google is asinine.
wasn't Google's hosting service but principle is the same.) (Famous example was some news service stealing that picture of the shuttle going through the clouds. I don't like the feeling of lack of control over my stuff. I'm kind of ambivalent to the changes to how google has ever handled photos, but I think it's always been more to licensing "rights" they (and everyone else) claims. Not because I know him, but just because I knew who to trickle info through. I only got my account approved by a circuitous process of sneaking into G+ via YouTube and then have one of the Google head guys (Yonatan Zunger) personally approve it. If not for those two incomprehensible fuckups, I'd probably be using G+ right now instead of Facebook - because all my friends would be too.
Picasa 3.9.141.259 is available to all software users as a free download for Windows.Saddest thing is, G+ could've been useful, even possibly great, if they just hadn't tried to force it on to everyone with a google related service, or their disastrous 'real name' policy.
This download is licensed as freeware for the Windows (32-bit and 64-bit) operating system on a laptop or desktop PC from image viewer software without restrictions. Optional Picasa Web Albums similar to Flickr.
Picasa is software which can apply special effects to a picture. Though the time of active development of Picasa had come to an end quite a while back, its features are still available to users wishing to do some rather old school tasks with a large number of digital pictures. In addition, multiple photos can be combined to create beautiful collages along with performing a multitude of functions with batch editing. While Picasa is great at backing up photos to the cloud and easily organizing them, it does come with some pretty cool photo editing tools which can quickly and painlessly resize and crop photos with a few clicks. The program is useful for the fact that it can be used to synchronize photos on the cloud with an easy-to-use interface making browsing photos a quick and simple task. Picasa is and was a free digital photo organizer that was made available by Google.Īlthough the program is no longer updated by the company, it is still available for download and usage on Windows systems and it allows the user to manage, manipulate and search through a large number of digital photos.
